Most Atheists are as intolerable as Christians.
How so?
I’m legitimately curious as to what you’ve got to say.Not that I agree with the claim, but I have found that a lot of…
I don’t believe that by being an Atheist makes you above anyone else. But most Atheists will believe they hold some kind of superiority over religious people. Though by acting as intolerant as these religious people, you are in fact no better than them. Atheists should show respect to people who choose to believe and those who don’t, rather than being as close minded and one sided as most Christians.
Being an atheist doesn’t make you better than anybody else, of course.
Atheists are typically seen as hostile towards religious people because we’re often hostile towards religion, in general. I don’t hate anybody at all for believing in a higher power, but I hate the societal constructs, political power, cults, and scams that are often rooted in the belief in a higher power.
It’s not really fair to say that most atheists feel one way or another, when you have no real statistics to support that…
As an atheist, I respect the right to believe what you want. I don’t respect what you believe, because it teaches to be satisfied with not understanding the world. It teaches you who to hate, and who to judge. It teaches bigotry, and causes wars.
And to say that atheists, in general, are close minded is completely inaccurate. If we were given sufficient evidence to support a higher being, we’d believe.
What some Atheists do is outline the negative aspects of religious worship, in particular those things that you have gone over. The problem is most Atheists will be as stubborn as Christians when it comes to debate. What I’m saying is that I believe as Atheists, we have a duty to act respectfully and keep an open mind when dealing with people who believe in any higher power. I’m also concerned with the fact that you are accusing me of holding beliefs associated with religion, when I haven’t actually stated if I am atheist or not. Do you believe because I am criticising aspects of Atheism that I have to be a religious person? I don’t believe in a God, and I do recognise that Religious teachings have outdated and barbaric practices embedded in them, but that they also preach love, forgiveness, charity and respect. It is these facts that most Atheists choose to overlook and I think that this is a problem. I’m also sorry for assuming most Atheists are like this, I don’t mean to say everyone is like this.
